Week 23 – Belterra Park

Date and I, having spent most of the evening in the area, decided to check out the new Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center, which is considered a “racino” (combined race track and casino) and has taken over what was once River Downs on Kellogg Avenue. Some thoughts:

  • I had no idea what to expect, but I was disappointed that there weren’t at least some tables
  • Wheel of Fortune (the 25¢ version) will always be the best slot machine
  • The bar area is great and there was a live band to entertain all of the patrons

In short: if you want to sit at some tables and gamble with others, this is not your place. But if you like the sound of gambling (slot machines) partnered with live music, and casually having some drinks with friends with the option to play said slot machines, this is absolutely your place.

I think Belterra Park is a great upgrade for River Downs, and I will make a point to go back when I can watch some horse racing. What would make the experience even better would be a few gaming tables.
