The Cincinnati Reds organization just unveiled what will be the logo for the 2015 All-Star Game that will be taking place at Great American Ball Park during next season’s Midsummer Classic.
The logo achieves the vital concept of representing our fine city without being too blatant and obvious. The horizontal composition (which isn’t often seen in ASG logos) juxtaposed with that typeface really gives it a BB Riverboat feel, which is a characteristic specific to the region given Cincinnati’s (and the Ohio River’s) rich steamboat history.
Let me not forget to mention the homage to Major League Baseball’s longest-tenured franchise by way of Mister Redlegs’ striped hat and mustache.
As Cincinnati is sure to put on a fantastic event next summer, the logo unveiling is a sort of icing on the cake. Nice work, Reds.
