Weekend Recap: Third Anniversary Edition

Weekend Recap – Third Anniversary EditionI spent the better part of the past week on vacation (lord, was it needed), which is part of why you haven’t heard from me in a couple of weeks. Before my departure to Folly Beach, South Carolina for a week with friends, BK and I felt it necessary to send me off in top fashion: by having dinner at my favorite restaurant in the city, Senate, on National Burger Day, followed by dessert from Taste of Belgium, then trivia at Moerlein Tap Room. Now that I have summer hours, we were also able to spend Friday afternoon together, so we got takeout from Bamboo Kitchen before we set off to Otto Armleder Dog Park* with Franklin.

My week at the beach was spent sans BK and, because our third anniversary is today and I returned home Friday evening, we decided to celebrate three years with each other over the weekend. On Friday night we stopped by The Growler House for a beer before getting carryout from Suzie Wong’s, then met up with out-of-town friends at Taft’s Ale House to end the night (at 11pm). On Saturday morning, we had breakfast at Happy Belly on Vine* and checked out Pet Wants* before heading to Washington Dog Park*, where Franklin typically serves as the park’s maître d, happily greeting everyone who enters.

Saturday night, in typical us fashion, we felt it necessary to do something new to us both in order to truly celebrate three years of adventures together. We made reservations for dinner at Bella Luna* before we went to see one of BK’s favorite comedians, Jimmy Pardo, at Go Bananas*.

After my two weeks of gluttony, it’s back to the grind for me — at least for a few weeks. Rest assured that I’ve got plenty of fodder for future posts. Stay tuned!

*More on this later.
