This past weekend was a good one, which included going to Findlay Market, where I had a goetta, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich from Eckerlin Meats (best goetta around, in my opinion, and the breakfast sandwich was awesome); Coffee Emporium to grab coffee and a muffin while we watched Liverpool at Rhinehaus; celebrating two friends’ marriage at First Lutheran Church, followed by marching in the rain with Cincy Brass to Woodward Theater where we continued dancing to the tunes of Cincy Brass, while drinking local beer and eating Skyline cheese coneys; Japp’s Since 1879; Liberty’s Bar and Bottle; and Pleasant Ridge Chili for end-of-night coneys, grilled cheese, and gravy cheese fries.
Most importantly from this past weekend, September 13 marked our first anniversary of moving to the neighborhood.
I have made it no secret how much I love [East] Walnut Hills, so it felt necessary to celebrate the occasion by patronizing some of our favorite local establishments. The day included going for a run in the neighborhood, getting lunch from Cafe DeSales, meeting friends at The Growler House, then ordering takeout from Suzie Wong’s on our way home.
The only thing I love more than where I live is who I get to share it with. I am fortunate to have a companion who not only shares my love for the city, but who has been almost as excited and enthusiastic about our neighborhood along the way.
