Nestled on Hamilton Avenue in College Hill lives Marty’s Hops and Vines, a cozy and glorious craft beer and wine shop featuring libations to drink by the glass in house and to buy for carryout, plus beer and wine of the month clubs.
If getting beverages to go, there is a varied selection of craft beer, including 6-packs and bombers from breweries across the country, plus a good selection of white, red, sweet, and sparkling wines from around the world.
If you’re planning to stick around for a little while, you have the choice between seasonal cocktails, glasses of wine, six beers on tap or, if you aren’t feeling draft beer, you can select something by the bottle or can. Bottles of wine are available to drink as well for a corking fee.
There are weekly events, including Ladies Night on Tuesdays, beer night on Wednesdays (and tastings every second and fourth Wednesday of the month — visit their Facebook page for more info), Cork Fee Free Day every Thursday, Friday wine tastings, plus live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and special events as well. If you decide to drink wine or craft beer by the glass in house, there are light bites such as baked sandwiches, snacks, salads, pizzas, small plates, and desserts to accompany your drink(s).
I love having Marty’s as a resource when buying beer, especially when taking a 6-pack or bomber to share with friends. Going to a housewarming party soon? Grab a bottle of wine or an Uinta Biere De Mars, a French-style spring ale brewed in chardonnay barrels (see what I did there without having to buy a bottle of wine?). Having the option to stick around for events and music makes this place even better. The selection is great, service is always pleasant, and the ambiance is wonderful.
