Commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history. Most catholic churches serve some sort of Fish Fry fare on Fridays for the Lenten season, but I want to focus on the non-traditional Fish Fry—including places that host more standard Fish Fry events as well as restaurants serving up fried fish dishes on Fridays and even throughout the Lenten season. Art After Dark: Girl Powered

Peak Bloom Season: Weeping Cherry Grove
Ault Park
In mid- to late-March (dates vary by year) the trees bloom in the Japanese Cherry blossom tree grove. It is a beautiful and wonderful way to get excited for spring and the warm season to come. The Higan Cherry tree grove is located at the park intersection of Observatory Road and Observatory Circle; near the Ault Park Commons. Simply drive into the park grounds and you will see trees lining the street as you drive into the park.

Spring Family Nature Hike: Sowing Seeds

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
A mother’s bravery. Her son’s legacy. “Let the world see what they did to my boy.” The heart-wrenching words spoken by Mamie Till-Mobley as she insisted upon an open casket for her 14-year-old son who was brutally murdered for whistling at a white woman in Money, Mississippi, in 1955, catalyzed the Civil Rights Movement in America.

Another sure sign of spring is this local institution opening for the season—its 67th in business.
