This [Past] Week in Awesome was, in fact, awesome, and it included such things as the Shamrock Shake (one of my favorite beers) release at Listermann, dinner from Andy’s Mediterranean Grill, lunch at Hathaway’s Diner, dinner at Brew House, a quick trip to Washington Park dog park, and dinner at Frida 602. But what was most exciting of the week was the Bockfest Parade with Die Innenstadt to kick off a weekend chock-full of Bockfest festivities.
Cincinnati loves its traditions, especially those that celebrate our German heritage and our rich brewing history (see also: Donauschwaben events, Händlmaier’s Mustard Club, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, Schützenfest, and more). In its 25th year, Bockfest, the largest Bock celebration in the US, garnered even more excitement than ever. The weekend kicked off with a parade beginning at Arnold’s, Cincinnati’s oldest continuously-operated bar, and culminated at Christian Moerlein’s Bockfest Hall.
Bockfest festivities lasted all weekend starting with the parade and followed by the 5K, Bockfeast dinners, brewery tours, Billygoat Ball, Beard Baron and Sausage Queen competition, and a Bockfest Brunch to cap the weekend.
I couldn’t attend the festivities on Saturday and Sunday due to previous engagements, but was fortunate to walk in the parade with Die Innenstadt, a supporters group for FC Cincinnati. Die Innenstadt is translated to “Inner City” and was created as a way to not only celebrate Cincinnati’s newest team, but also its culture and German heritage.
Those who know me know how much I love FC Cincinnati and especially this crew, and it’s been awesome getting to know this group of people through a sport and city we love this past year.
But enough of the mush and onto the beer. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the parade:

I really wanted to highlight the Bockfest Parade in this post, so I will be doing things a bit differently on the blog this week. I will be sharing a This Weekend in Awesome later this week, so keep your eye out for that.
Have a great week, everyone!
