BK and I recently met a couple of friends at Siam Orchid for dinner. It’d been in my Bookmarks on Yelp for who knows how long, so it was nice to finally check it off the list. I generally like Thai food and since it has a pretty good rating on Yelp, we knew we had to give it a try.
We hopped on the Southbank Shuttle after work (we both work in the CBD) and paid $1 each for the ride to Riverboat Row, from where we walked about a half mile to Siam Orchid on Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue.
This no-frills restaurant is pretty small and unassuming, and street parking is available nearby. We ordered Crab Puffs to start, because of course we did, and they were delicious. The casing was thin yet crispy, and the cream cheese, shrimp, and crab meat filling was aplenty. I decided on the Mussaman Curry and white rice, while BK got Chicken Pad Thai. Our dinnermates ordered Pineapple Fried Rice and Chicken Ginger. Of course, I had to get a side of Spring Rolls, too, because I apparently didn’t have enough fried food to last me a lifetime in Ireland.
I digress.
To stay on the safe side, we all ordered our meals at medium heat and mine was the only dish that was particularly spicy. It was pretty spicy, actually, while the other dishes weren’t so much. But everyone agreed the food was pretty good and we were glad we got to try it. I really liked BK’s Pad Thai and I don’t usually care for noodle dishes. The prices were reasonable, too, and our service was good. It was a really pleasant experience topped off with dessert from Schneider’s Sweet Shop across the street.
