We’re currently trying to be better with what we eat and BK had been wanting to try Sidekix for a while. So we finally went to celebrate Monthiversary Vol. 7.

Sidekix, exterior

Located on Columbia Parkway in Columbia Tusculum, Sidekix Saucy Asian Grill is a build-your-own bowls and wraps fast-casual restaurant, where you decide on a bowl or wrap before picking your base, protein, and warm and chilled toppings. Since we’d not been, the owner was glad to walk us through our experience, and even let us try a handful of their sixteen sauces. Yes, sixteen, ranging from savory and mild to sweet and spicy — mix and match as you please.

The sauces — sixteen of ’em!

I ordered a bowl with a mix of noodles and rice with chicken, spicy cabbage, scrambled eggs, onions, and topped with crispy noodles and General Kix sauce. I also got Yum Yum on the side to accompany a spring roll. BK decided on a bowl with rice, spicy cabbage, chicken, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, scrambled eggs, and topped with crispy noodles and a mix of Thai peanut and hoisin garlic sauces.

Spring rolls

I kept looking at BK throughout the meal and telling him how much I liked it. It was delicious and properly spicy, and the spicy cabbage was fantastic. It added a wonderful dynamic to the meal — in flavor and in texture — and the crispy noodles gave a great crunchy texture for the finish. The spring roll was good, too.

Two-for-$12 Tuesdays!

The service was great, the place was mostly unassuming (but clean and nice), the food was awesome, and I can’t wait to go back. On Tuesdays they even have Two-for-$12. Sidekix is a must try.
Visit idea: I know I already did a Neighborhood Highlight for Columbia Tusculum, but if you’re in the area, grab some Sidekix to go and take it to either Alms Park or Blank Slate to enjoy. You’re welcome.
