A Tour de Cincinnati Wedding

I recently married my best friend!

In the least shocking news ever, we had a very Cincinnati-centric wedding. In the more shocking department, we surprised our friends and loved ones by having a courthouse elopement. As I previously wrote, we were engaged at the end of July. Forty days later, we were married in the company of our photographers and a judge at the Hamilton County Courthouse. If there is a part of me that has ever truly dreamed about my wedding day, September 8 was it.

The night before the ceremony, I got a manicure and pedicure at Spruce Nail Salon in OTR. From there, BK picked me up and we went to dinner at Mazunte before relaxing the rest of the night with the dog.

The morning of our big day, I treated myself to a Glacial Mocha from Coffee Emporium before having my hair done by Cassie (now at Salons by JC). Afterwards, BK and I got ready in our home together—one of my favorite parts of the day—then drove down to Findlay Market, where we met our photographers, Christy and Josh of Eleven:11 Photography. I hand-picked a bundle of flowers at Zinncinnati*, an urban boutique-style floral design studio, where my bouquet was then made on the spot in 10 minutes and for very reasonable. We had photos taken at Findlay Market before heading to the courthouse for the 11:30am ceremony, which was lovely, intimate, and a perfect celebration for BK and me. We followed up the ceremony with some more photos in Washington Park which, as you can imagine, is a very special place to us.

There’s not much to caption here aside from pure joy.

What followed our ceremony was a burger lunch and beer at Krueger’s Tavern; an “engagement” turned surprise marriage celebration dinner with parents and siblings at Moerlein Lager House; a river view hotel stay at the Marriott Rivercenter (Franklin spent the night at The Pet Spot) in Covington; and a “honeymoon” spent on the streetcar in its grand opening weekend, as we like to joke.

The rest of the weekend included a beer at Taft’s Ale House, plus multiple trips to The Woodburn; cold brew from Urbana; another visit to Findlay Market and a breakfast sandwich from Eckerlin Meats; a soccer morning at rhinehaus; dinner at Newport Pizza Co. with my best friend and her husband to celebrate; and breakfast at Top This Donut Bar. If our first weekend as a married couple is any preview, we’ve got a lot of Cincinnati exploring in our future.
